Richard Baltas and Norman Casse
October 26, 2017 11am – 12 noon pst

Richard Baltas
Trainer, Baltas Racing Stable

Norman Casse
Assistant Trainer, Casse Stables

In this week’s edition of The Mike Abadir Show, trainers from two of horse racing’s most prominent stables will join Mike and Gino to discuss their Breeder’s Cup prospects. The first of our trainer guests is Richard Baltas, who is based in Southern California, and who just won the trainer’s title at the prestigious Del Mar summer meet.

We will also feature a guest from another powerhouse barn, and that is Norman Casse, who is with Casse Stables. They have a major presence in several major racing circuits, including Woodbine (Toronto, Canada, area), as well as stateside at Gulfstream Park, and in the Kentucky circuit.

Each of these trainers has won numerous world class races and participated in horse racing’s Super Bowl, the annually conducted Breeder’s Cup Championships (which will be run for the first time at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club on Nov. 3rd & 4th). We will discuss their top contenders, and explore the preparation each stable puts into their world class athletes. Another great edition of  The Mike Abadir Show!

Richard Baltas is one of Southern California’s most elite horse racing trainers. He just won the 2017 training title at the highly competitive and prestigious Del Mar race meet, which is exactly the type of momentum that any trainer would want to have as we approach this year’s Breeder’s Cup World Championships, particularly since they will be held at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (on Nov 3rd & 4th).

Remarkably, Richard has eclipsed his own earnings mark for seven consecutive years, and he is on pace to do so once again to make it eight straight years that his earnings have exceeded the prior year’s dollar amount. As of 10/19/17, his barn ranks 21st in the nation in money earned, as he eyes topping the $5M mark for the first time in his career. He has several legitimate BC prospects – a win by any of them will help him draw closer to passing this lofty milestone. A consistent winner in the high teens percentage-wise, he is a force in Stakes race competition in the SoCal circuit.

Norman Casse, who co-runs Casse Stables with his father Mark, is a part of one the most successful racing teams in North America. Their stable has won some of horse racing’s biggest races over the years, and they can always be counted on to produce runners in all of the Canadian triple crown races, as well as have entries in the Breeder’s Cup World Championship races. They have racked up thousands of wins from coast-to-coast, with a primary presence at Gulfstream Park during the winter months, and at Woodbine and the Kentucky circuit for a vast majority of the year. As of 10/19/17, the Casse barn is approaching the $14M mark in 2017 earnings, which ranks 5th in the nation.

Overall, they are amongst the most consistent outfits, and they have produced champions, millionaires, and Grade I winners. This year, they have several Breeder’s Cup contenders, and are looking for the emergence of a serious threat for the 2018 Kentucky Derby
